Big Wave Bae

Tai Long Wan (大浪灣) translates to Big Wave Bay and is undoubtedly one of the best things about Hong Kong. There are multiple beaches of the same name, but the two most impressive are found in Sai Kung and South-East of HK Island. 

The one in Sai Kung is next to Ham Tin beach and only accessible on foot or by boat (we recommend the hike from Sai Wan Pavilion). This is arguably the most beautiful beach in Hong Kong, with clear water, fine white sand and a breathtaking backdrop of green mountains. Not a lot of facilities but we recommend camping overnight. 

The Big Wave Bay on Hong Kong island is more accessible, sitting just north of Shek O and at the end of the Dragon's Back hike (also highly recommended). Whilst not quite as breathtaking as Sai Kung, it is a popular surf spot with great facilities. Haishang tip: check out the surf forecast before heading down and don’t expect Hawaii / Bali style swells!
